Tyranny

Pearseus: Tyranny | From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksPearseus: Tyranny (formerly Rise of the Prince) is the first book of the Pearseus series that has reached #1 on Amazon.

I think of this series as historical fiction set in space: it is inspired by 5th Century BC historian Herodotus and his story of Cyrus, king of Persia. And it takes place on a distant planet, some 400 years in the future.

What Readers Say

“A well-paced, suspenseful page-turner”

“A cross between Game of Thrones and Dune”

“It will be hard to put this book down long enough to eat and sleep, never mind doing responsible things like going to work and taking care of the kids”

“[It] hits on those big archetypal themes of invasion, loss, leadership, death… and high tech. It gives the reader plenty of material for discussion.”

“Warning: May cause loss of sleep, lowered work productivity, and missed meals”

“Be warned: once you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down!”

What is it about?

Justice without compassion is but tyranny

“Pearseus does for ancient Greece what Game of Thrones did for Medieval England.”

A scared boy on a new planet. A father who has failed at his most basic duty: to keep his children safe. And a ruler who struggles to save her world, the only way she knows how: through cold-blooded cruelty.

Three hundred years after humans crash-land on Pearseus, long-forgotten wars and whispered prophecies become chilling reality.

Which is more important: reuniting your family, avenging evil, or preventing humanity’s extinction?
