Readers of my blog and interviews will know that my sci-fi/fantasy series, Pearseus, is basically Herodotus’ history of Cyrus, King of Persia… in space.
It’s easy enough to understand how I came up with the idea, growing up some 20′ from the scene of the famous Marathon Bay battle and Marathon tumulus.
The place where the Persians landed is now a beautiful, sandy beach. Nothing reminds swimmers of the hundreds of Persian ships that invaded Greece some 2,500 years ago, even though the tomb of the fallen warriors is less than a mile away.
In the summer, we drive there for a swim. And now, thanks to this amazing video, you, too, can appreciate its beauty:
I could SO use a swim in that water right now. Alternating cold and warm here but raining, raining and gloomy. What an absolutely gorgeous beach – I would be there every day!
I really should take more advantage of it!!
I also live a short drive from wonderful beaches fringed by woodland.

The difference is that the sea is brown and cold, and for nine months of the year it might be raining too. 🙂
OK, I’m suitably envious…
Best wishes, Pete.
Lol–sorry, Pete! Didn’t mean to awaken the green monster 😀
