I recently posted about free fonts and free 3D mockups. This latest resource rounds up nicely these two design-related posts by throwing some great images into the mix.
PNGkey has a stunning number of free PNG resources. For those unfamiliar with PNG, it is a graphics file format that allows transparency. This lets you download a resource such as the flames below and spruce up an existing design, as I do in the example below:
Alternatively, you can use the images to create a new design from scratch. With thousands of images, you’re spoiled for choice:
Finally, you can add logos to designs such as banners or websites.
I hope you find PNGkey useful. Once again, many thanks to Krystallia for the tip!
Thank you again. 😉
A pleasure! I hope you find it useful 🙂
Thanks, Nicholas! This is very useful information.
Yay! So glad you found it useful 😀
I didn’t know you could do this with PNGs – I thought they were just another way to save pic files.
I’m not adventurous with images because I don’t know what I’m doing with them. I downloaded Gimp but have never taken the time to read the manual so only use it for resizing. (I probably wouldn’t understand the manual instructions anyway.)
I must investigate further. Once again, thanks.
A pleasure! I love the PNG format, as it doesn’t create unsightly artefacts (the pixelization you see on some images). The only drawback is that sometimes it generates much bigger files than JPGs. I generally use JPG for photos and PNG when there’s text in the image (as it comes out much crisper).
Thanks for another great tip, Nicholas. It was good to see the example on your book covers.
Best wishes, Pete.
Very handy, thank you!
So glad you found it useful 😀
