This hasn’t been a good week for web companies. Facebook, WhatsUp, Instagram, Google Drive, and Gmail came under unspecified attacks and had trouble or even went offline for hours. In the case of Facebook, the troubles lasted some 48 hours, making this the worst such incident in the history of the medium.
And my web host was hacked, resulting in hours of my work gone. Poof. I will probably spend the next week or two just bringing everything up to speed.
Along with the stuff that went missing was a number of my posts on this blog. Things are now back to normal, but I didn’t realize that subscribers would get notifications with each new post as they were restored. I apologize for flooding your Inbox. Also, apologies to anyone whose comment disappeared.
Normal service will resume tomorrow!
Oy! What a mess. I’d be tearing my hair out. Holy crap your host was hacked, that’s pretty damned bad! I’ve had gremlins all week at my blog and lots of emails from readers letting me know the issues, thankfully – although I knew the grief I was having. FB has also been giving me grief taking down my posts there. I’m not alone in that, and it seems they’re pushing to get paid for posts now. I’m almost done there. Many of us writers have and are setting up on MeWe. We’ve opened our fb groups there posting there now. I’m hanging on to fb because of die hards who won’t leave that I connect with, but 15 million left fb last week alone. Hope to see you soon on MeWe. And I hope you get your blog fixed up. I feel your pain 🙂
Thank you for the tip, Debby! MeWe, huh? Hmm…
No problems receiving these posts.I was in the same situation last fall when my website was hacked and I had to reload all my posts realizing all my images were lost. Frustrating when this happens. Best wishes, Linnea
Ouch! Thanks for understanding 🙂
Sounds like a nightmare for sure.
I suspect I’ll spend most of March clearing up the mess. Sigh…
Ah bummer. I’m glad you got it sorted. I wondered if it was something like that. Hackers are a pain in the arse!
Cheers
MTM
Tell me about it! I now have to redo so much work, including remaking a couple of fully-built websites from scratch!
I am glad you were able to restore so much, even though it was a great inconvenience.
Thank you for understanding 🙂
No apologies, Nicholas. Somethings are just beyond our control.
I got a Tsunami of Rossis! Left a comment (twice) but only to congratulate you! Interested to know the reasons.
I must have been lucky, Nicolas. I got all of those posts. Sorry if you lost my comments, but I left one on every post.
Best wishes, Pete.
