Apologies for missing yesterday’s post. It’s because of the various bugs that the wee one’s been bringing home since her school reopened after the Christmas holidays. Last week we had to keep her home every day but Monday, so that threw a spanner in the works: I wanted to finish editing a book I’ve been ghostwriting; instead, I ended up not even opening the file once. And I even missed a blog post.
Now, both Electra and I have caught whatever Natalie had, so we’re both down. Adding insult to, well, snot (lots and lots of snot!), this ruined our weekend. It might even be the dreaded flu, as the infamous H1N1 variety has been a literal pandemic over here lately, to the point that they closed down the elementary school in our neighborhood for one whole week in a vain attempt to stop it. It’s a good thing all three of us had been vaccinated against it, so the symptoms are pretty mild!
Still, tomorrow’s post has now been scheduled, so normal service is to resume shortly (or, at least, that’s my hope)!
Children are germ factories until they hit adolescence, then it’s a whole different ballgame! 😀 … hope you are all well-er soon. 🙂
From germ factory to hormone factory… wonder which is worse 😀
Feel better!
Thanks 🙂
I hope you feel better soon. I remember those days well. Enjoy lots of water, vitamin C and magnesium which will help you get over it faster. Take as many rest breaks as you can get; nap when Natalie does. I loved the cartoon about comparing a man’s fever to labor!
Thank you, Connie! As I was just saying, it’s one of the big ironies of life that sleep is so hard for those who need it the most!
I, too, have the lurghi. Along with McOther. McMini had it all last week but apart from being very snotty he seemed on good form, his father and I, however, are running temperatures and feeling very sorry for ourselves.
Hope you are all better soon!
Cheers
MTM
Yikes! You too, Mary. Sorry to hear that 🙁
I do hope this is not the flu, Nicholas. It’s dreadful stuff – I had it last year but there was no snot! 🙂
Get well soon – sleep is the best remedy, if possible!
It’s one of the big ironies of life that sleep is so hard for those who need it the most!
I hope you start feeling better soon!
Thank you, Allie! There are moments during the day when it feels that way, especially after a nice cup of tea. I should probably make more tea…
Oh no! When I got the flu in the new year (fever up to 38 for 2-3 days), I had a lot of green tea (with lemon juice) and lots of honey too separately… For the bad throat I had thyme tea straight. Even gurgled with it. Helped immensely. Gurgling with salty water did too. Took no meds other than paracetamol and was fine after 4-5 days. Hope this helps. Feel better soon, you guys! Must be tougher for the little one, I bet…
Thank you for that, Fros! Let’s hope it goes away real soon 🙂
We have both been ill on and off since before Christmas. My wife had the vaccination, but she got it worse than I did, despite that. This virus going around is one of the worst I can remember, and we are both constantly reinfected by contact with our grandson. It has got so bad, I now call him ‘Infecto Boy’. He thinks that’s a new super-hero! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Lol–his super power is infecting others! Love this 😀
