Five years ago I posted my first post. I had joined WordPress two days earlier.
It’s hard to believe it’s only been five years, as I feel I’ve known some of you forever. Still, looking at my stats I realize I’ve posted 1,247 posts, so I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun. I’m surprised, moved, and grateful by your continued support.
I didn’t want to use our anniversary– and I say “our” because this blog would be nothing without you–as a marketing or a promotional opportunity. Instead, I simply wish to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has visited, commented, and followed me these past five years. You rock!
I’m so late, but I wanted to tell you, happy blogoversary nonetheless.
I know what you mean. You were one of the first people I connected online when I first built my own blgo four years ago and honestly, I’ve learned I ton from you.
This is what I love of the blogosphere: the sense of tribe and the willingness to help each other, and you certainly are a chanpion at this.
Aw, you! Thank you so much for that 😀
Congratulations, Nicholas! 🙂 — Suzanne
Thank you so much, Patricia! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your comments and enthusiasm 🙂
Congrats Nicholas. Time flies when we’re having fun. 🙂
Couldn’t agree more! Thank you, Debby, for all your support through the years. It’s much appreciated 😀
Happy Blog-O-Versary! 😀
Thank you so much 😀
That’s fantastic! I have two pressing questions for you on your 5-year.
1) I’m sure you thought about it for awhile. What was it that finally pushed you over the edge to create the WordPress account and really get rolling?
2) What would you want to tell yourself five years and a few days ago?
Thanks! Let’s see:
1. Blogging was the only medium that offered me the ability to write longer texts. Facebook and (even worse) Twitter seemed so limited in comparison! So, when I read I should take to social media to promote my work, this seemed like the logical conclusion. I flirted with Tumblr for a while (and still have an account there) but that’s turned more of a pin-and-board medium rather than a text-based one. So, my next stop was WordPress.
2. Find a schedule and stick to it. I now blog on every odd day and this seems to work out fine for most of my readers (and me). Also, don’t worry about promoting your books. This is more about connecting with people.
Excellent! Thanks for the thoughtful reply. So happy for you! May you have many more exciting anniversaries in your future.
Amen to that 🙂
Cheers to you, Nicholas! Thanks so much for all that you do and share. You rock! 🙂
Thank you so much, Natalie! You’re a star 😀

That is so kind, Philippa! Thank you 😀
Well done with your five years, Nicholas. I passed six in July, and still have many of the same followers from that summer of 2012. Your blog posts are always interesting, as well as being helpful to, and supportive of, the entire blogging community.
It’s pleasure to know a gentleman like you, and I look forward to at least five more years of online friendship, hopefully more.
Best wishes to you, and to your family. Pete.
That’s so kind of you, Pete! Thank you–and congratulations on your own anniversary 🙂
Congrats, Nicolas. You’re such a blogging pro that I’d thought you’ve been at it much longer. Wishing you many more years of success. 🙂
Wow, that’s such a kind thing to say. Thank you 🙂
