It was the most stunning of early mornings ever. Usually, I enjoyed coffee on my covered porch high over the Hudson River watching sunrise reverse last night’s sunset. This day started with the magical. I was of the never-ever-late to work ethic, but this day I felt it ungrateful to God, not to sit and wonder.
My train pulled into Grand Central Station before nine. I took more time to gaze upon its ceiling, as usual; all seemed well with the world. But two minutes up 42nd Street, my daughter’s Blackberry voice said Go Home. I thought, no, go into Pfizer and assess.
Alighted from the elevator, so eerily empty, to offices empty too; all in packed conference rooms, not one whisper, just eyes to jumbo screen. So many there, with loved ones, downtown. And then, and then, and then, and then, and then.
Thank you for sharing this, Marilee!
What a day that was. It will live on in history, and never be forgotten.
Best wishes, Pete.
Well said, Pete. Thanks!
