I have shared a number of infographics designed by ReedsyΒ and I always welcome the opportunity to share more. An opportunity which arose again a couple of days ago, when I discovered an amazing guide to Ebook distribution. The title is not clickbait–the post really presents everything you need to know about Ebook distribution. With CreateSpace closing its e-storeΒ (although it will continue to publish books for now) and Pronoun shutting down, I know that many authors are exploring other options.
So, here is the Infographic that sums up nicely Reedsy’sΒ post, although I strongly advise you to have a look at the original post for further information.
Thank you, Nicholas! This is very helpful. π
Yay! Good to hear π
Very clear and extremely helpful.
Real good stuff here. Thanks for the visuals. Makes a huge difference for us folks that prefer pix over text.
Yay! I’m so glad to hear it π
A great infographic, Nicholas. π — Suzanne
Thank you, Suzanne π
Great info, Nicholas. I’m still exclusively with Amazon, but perhaps someday I’ll think about expanding. I rather lazy/timid for now.
Same here π
Hi Nicholas,
This is another great post filled with information. Perhaps over the last year eBook distribution has changed. In 2016 when I put out my first book, I went with KDP Select for the first 90 days. I then put the book out on Kobo, iBook, Barnes and Noble and Lulu. I listed it with these for over six months and sold one book. The iBook sale was to a friend that used a Mac tablet. I followed each recommendation for marketing. I asked for review’s assistance and got nowhere. Finally, I gave up and went back to KDP Select. You introduced me to the KDP sponsored ads technique and my sales have been consistent ever since. As long as Amazon holds 80% of the market or more, the other distribution sites cannot compete. I can only speak for my experience, unless your can compete with Amazon (e.g. Kobo in Canada), is it worth the effort for minimal sales?
I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing so well, Chuck! As far as I’m concerned, you can’t beat KDP Select, simply because I lack the time to market properly on all these other channels.
I’m just following your lead and great information sharing. If you get a chance, please read my post from today. I would love to get your opinion. Thanks.
When I released my very first book, I checked Amazon and they said they had a used copy for sale–for $999. I had to laugh at this (and keep a screenshot to remind me of my book’s *real* worth π ). The problem was fixed on its own after a few weeks.
I don’t know what happened, but my money would be on a technical glitch. As I was saying the other day, there is a bug for every 1,000 lines of code. To put this in perspective, an electric razor has some 14,000 lines of code. Amazon’s must be in the millions.
Having said that, you did the right thing by reporting it to CS and by pursuing the matter. It’s the posting of your ISBN and covers that troubled me the most, as it raises the possibility that either CS has been hacked or someone is looking to make some extra money on the side–both uncomfortable thoughts.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Keep us posted!
Glad everyone likes it! We at Reedsy always enjoy putting together these graphic guides. Let me know if you have any questions about the recommended distribution setup I describe in there π
Many thanks for the great infographic and post, Richard, and thanks for stopping by π
Thanks once again, Nicholas, for fabulously useful information presented in a wonderfully accessible and understandable way. Keep it up! And enjoy happy, healthy and safe holidays.
Thank you, Iris–you too π
I always appreciate these graphics. Being a computer dimwit, they really make it look easy.
(I bet it isn’t though! π )
Best wishes, Pete.
“It’s easier than you can possibly imagine,” he lied. “Nothing can go wrong.”
Ha ha! I was right! π π
I’m not quite there yet, but great info. Thanks for sharing!
I hope you find it useful when the time comes π
Wow that is a very clear and easy to follow guide! Bookmarked it, thanks x
Yay! I’m glad to hear it π
The Draft2Digital universal link takes the reader to all D2D distributors and Amazon. One click shopping that makes for easy promotion.
Yes, it’s one of the features I love the most about Draft2Digital. You can get your universal links for pretty much any book through their Books2Read website: https://books2read.com/
Thanks for sharing that, Janice π
Great info – bookmarked for later, when I might have something to e-publish!
Yay π
Being a visual person, I LOVE these infographics! Thanks for sharing, Nicholas ??
Yay! So glad to hear it π
