“Congratulations,” my friend said upon hearing we were expecting a baby girl. “Your wife is about to introduce you to the love of your life.”
This Valentine’s day, I have come to appreciate the wisdom in his words. Of course, whenΒ Electra brought me a piece of chocolate cake earlier today, knowing my love of the stuff, it got me thinking: your loved one is supposed to bring you chocolate. But what happens when you’re in love with chocolate? Shouldn’t you get twice as much chocolate whatever? With sprinkled chocolate and chocolate flakes, perhaps?
Aaaanyway, when not pondering such great conundrums,Β I realized that I have, in fact, three loves in my life: Electra, Maria Natalia and writing – a huge part of which is my new friends and community, i.e. you*
So, whatever it is that warms your heart (and I’d love to read all about it in the comments), think of today as the perfect opportunity to treasure it.
- And chocolate. Definitely chocolate.
A very belated Happy Valentine’s Day, Nicholas. Loved your post. Of course, the loves of my life are what make me happy on Valentine’s Day and everyday of the year. I am not much of a chocolate lover unless it is really, really good and very expensive chocolate (that right there is probably why I seldom eat it), or my downfall is chocolate covered raisins, or chocolate Labradors. If I had to choose my favorite chocolate though, it would definitely be the Labs.
I know what you mean. Salted caramel Valrhonas will be the end of me…
You have to share.
Sure! (he said, confident in the knowledge that Michelle is on another continent)
Haha!
Wonderful to have your first ‘fatherly’ Valentine’s Day. π
Sure is!:)
π
Yes, chocolate works for me too. And prosecco. And coffee… I guess I’m quite easy to please. ?
We authors really are simple people, aren’t we?
?
Cute post, Nicholas!
Happy Love Day, every day of your life!
Thanks! You too π
Well…I’m a fickle sort of beast, Nicholas. I have about 40 loves of my life. Of course, being Irish, I never get any of them. It’s a delicate balance but we like it. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your gorgeous ladies!
Thanks! Same to you and your… erm… army of loves in your life.
An army! Oh, I wish I had one of those (rather than loves of bad things, like chips, or impossible things, like dry summers).
You keep forgetting chocolate. What’s wrong with you??
It’s Lent, Nick. And now you just brought up THE BAD THING
Is it Lent already?? Not for us Greek Orthodox it isn’t! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I hear a Toblerone calling my name… Coming, my sweet!
Oh, I don’t do it for religious reasons. I do it for health reasons. Just watching the people around me feel guilty about giving nothing up makes me feel amazing.
That is the most evil thing I’ve heard. Love it! π
Happy Valentines Day, Nicholas! ?
You too, Helen π
Happy Valentine’s Day Nicolas, to you and yours.
Leslie
Thank you so much, Leslie! You too π
Have a great day!
Thank you, Darlene! You too π
Happy <3 <3 <3 Day and, of course, keep it going every day all year. Well, except the chocolate cake. That might not be a good idea for a writer. π
Erm, are you just stating your emotional status? :b
Thank you and a Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours. I never fully understood the meaning of the phrase ‘it’s better to give, than to receive,’ until I had children of my own. I think you’ve already discovered it.
Lol – absolutely π
Happy Valentine’s Day to you Nicholas and to those precious to you. <3
Thank you so much, Tess! You too π
Happy Valentine’s Day Nicholas. (Good old Cupid. Now I know why I loved a vehicle. He hit a car one time and I fell in love with it.)
Lol – yep, that explains it π
All the best for a wonderful day with the loves of your life.
Aw, thanks! You too π
I’ve been feeling the lurve on blog tour all this week! π Loving writing and writers is a rose without a thorn – no down sides at all, unlike than my other 2 rascally squeezes, doggies Toby and Benji… π
Lol – well said π
Pleased to hear about your Valentine’s Day, with the two main loves of your life, Nicholas. As Julie is Diabetic, and I am not a fan of chocolate, it will not feature in our house. However, I received a very good Burgundy as a gift, and bought Julie something suitable in return. I will be cooking some nice lamb later, and enjoying the wine with it.
Have an enjoyable day, and please give my best wishes to Electra and Maria Natalia.
Regards from a surprisingly sunny Norfolk, Pete.
That sounds lovely! My best to the both of you π
It was overcast here earlier, so you must have sent us your weather. It’s clearing up now, though, so you’re welcome to it π
From me to all the sweet teeth in your family!
Lol – thanks! You too π
The priorities for your love are great, Nicholas. Happy Valentines Day!! π — Suzanne
Thank you! You too π
Happy Valentine’s Day Nicholas – I’m sure you’ll mark it in your memory for being the first one where you have two Valentines to cherish! Yes, this day calls for chocolate – as you know I have a Brit in the house and, being one, he can’t celebrate anything without it LOL. So, we have chocolate souffle lined up and a meal out on the seafront near home. Enjoy your day with warmth of sentiment and chocolate delights π
Yummy! Now, I’m jealous π
Happy Valentine’s day to the both of you π
You have great priorities Nicholas but I think chocolate deserves a little more emphasis. I’m sorry if there’s little in the UK shops but I went on a Single on Valentine’s Day spree yesterday telling everyone the chocolate was for my grandson. May my waistline forgive me.
Have a Fantastic Day
Hugs
Lol – that’s one lucky grandson. Oh, wait… π
Hugs!
Lovely, Nicholas! Chocolate and your sweet family! What more can you ask for? You have “A Thankful Heart” for sure! Happy Valentine’s Day ? Elizabeth
Aw, thanks. You too π
Happy Valentine’s Day to you too
Thank you π
Arrrr – sweet post!
I had to think of you and your morning coffee, didn’t I? π
My best wishes to Roxie. I hope she has a memorable V-day. Of course, I’ll probably read all about it tomorrow, won’t I?
Matilda’s Diary tomorrow – I am not sure I have got in the head of a teen – I could very well spend the day cringing underneath the bed!
Oh, right! It’s her turn this week! Well, I’m sure teens have their version of V-day. Or is that D-day?
