So far, she winning, as she argues that Mary Natalie can write a book about her experience winning a Nobel prize. Hmm…

      Tell me about it.
      
      When I tried to get the wee one’s first picture, she had her hands over her face, so I gently pushed them down. She let out an annoyed cry and pushed my finger away, then promptly raised her fists back over her face.
      
      This, barely 2 hours into the world.
      
      The nurse who brought her to us described her as “defiant but calm.” I now see what she meant, and weep for the future…

        My son freaked out a nurse within minutes of being born. They give babies a Vitamin K shot and she was approaching with the needle. He suddenly looked at her and reached for the needle, which startled her. It was very exact and specific. Babies aren’t supposed to do that, so we’re not sure what exactly happened. Still she gave him the shot, he scowled, and then he did a precise pee off the table to get the nurse. Ah, the first year stories.
        
        Be thankful for the calm part. Might mean you can reason with her. Also remember that she’s portable. Always take advantage of the fact that you can carry your kid when they’re being defiant.

        Means you don’t have to worry about the fire hose effect. I’m sure she’ll find ways to drive you crazy and make it feel like every other day is laundry day. 🙂

        Though I recommend having cloth diapers over your shoulders when burping. Those things were great. (Might have mentioned that already.)
