I gave a book presentation on Monday, to celebrate Runaway Smile’s 2015 International Book Awards award, and officially kick off its launch into the Greek market. Sadly, the political situation overshadowed the event, and only a few journalists showed up. Still, we did have a great time, and even got to sell a few books.
Former Miss Greece Evi Vatidou, who’s a friend, was kind enough to show up, so at least you know that the photos of the event will feature something other than, well, me.
The event took place at Skoufa Gallery, which also featured an exhibition by Alexandros Maganiotis – the perfect companion to the event.
Enjoy the photos!
Congratulations on your book presentation in spite of the political upheaval. 😀
Thanks! It was eerie to see downtown so quite…
I bet it was. I remember walking around the busy plaza now 11 years ago. Shame what is happening.
Tell me about it… 🙁
I’m sorry this event wasn’t better attended, Nicholas. But you sold some books, enjoyed the company, came away with ideas – so it’s definitely a half full glass. Bravo!
What a lovely way to look at it. Thanks! 🙂
Congrats on your launch and successful event! Finger food looks yummy and I like the t-shirt too, as others said.
The food was wonderful. Our freezer is still full with it 😀
Glad you liked the tee! 🙂
You had media? Wow!
Lol – thanks! 😀
Looked like a lovely venue and event, Nicholas. Evi seems to be a great person to help spread the word about the book. Best wishes on Amazon with the book and shirt. 🙂
Thank you so much, Suzanne! 🙂
Nicholas, I’m impressed! Well, you knew I would be! Just read the competition to your book launch. An article in Business Insider…”the testy relationship with the Eurozone…Greece’s most immediate source of danger is its banking system.” Yikes! Not the best timing, however you had Evi there and that counts as a big plus. Plus…plus the T-shirt! Wish I had a small grandkid to buy one for. Anyway, I love my Runaway Smile book (in English), and I was there in spirit at the book launch. Just answered your e-mail about ARC…please read, I cannot open it! Help! Christine
No worries my dear, one PDF’s on the post 🙂
Thanks!
Yay…thank you so much! Christine
Congratulations! Sorry to hear about the political situation – hope things improve and best of luck on the launch!
Thank you so much – and welcome 🙂
What a great idea and very classy. Looks like fun.
Thanks! It was very classy. But I felt like the New Testament King who gathered passers-by because his own guests to the wedding never showed up 😉
Sounds like an author’s life.
It was a pity that the financial situation overshadowed your launch. However, some journalists, and an attractive Greek celebrity into the bargain? Pretty good Nicholas!
Best wishes, Pete.
Lol – Evi’s gorgeous, isn’t she? I’m now getting all sorts of envious phone calls from my mates… 😀
That’s awesome and looks like fun. Even a few journalists are better than none and every little bit counts. 😀 Hope it makes a big splash in the Greek market.
Thank you! Let’s hope so 🙂
I’m glad it went so well. 🙂
That’s so kind of you, especially as it flopped in my view (I was hoping for far more journalists and drop-ins) 😀
Oh, no! You mustn’t think like that. It was beautifully presented and these things build. Just having someone with a book in your position being a part of an area or even country is an achievement to be proud of.
That’s such a kind way of looking at it; thank you 🙂
Welcome and that is how I look it. I’m proud just to associate with a writer of your talent. 🙂
Lol – you’re bent on making my day, aren’t you? 😀
Well……. 🙂
Looks like a lovely event!:)
Thank you, Sue! Wish you could have been here 🙂
So do I, Nicholas 🙂
Love the t-shirt Nicholas! Evi looks very sweet, I told you I saw her on Star channel the other day advertising your book, huh? Keep her close, LOL!!! Well done for the event, any exposure is great 🙂
Thanks! 😀
The tee was a huge success. You know, I could share the design for anyone wanting to print it themselves. Hmm…
That sounds like a good idea. It would make a great gift to put the design on a child’s t-shirt and give it, along with the print copy of Runaway Smile, as a gift for a child. Kids love t-shirts, and your book would very innocently get some extra exposure. 🙂
Consider it done. I could probably sell the tees myself, mind you, but isn’t it better to share? 🙂
But you could set it up through Amazon.
I’ve got a Zazzle account, actually. I’m setting up the tee now. Watch out for tomorrow’s post 😉
Will do.
Good. There may or may not be a special mention of you (hint: there is) 😀
Awww. Thanks, but not necessary.
Lol – sure it is. You know me, I tend to go overboard when crediting people 😉
Seriously though, it was a good idea, so thanks 🙂
I want a T-shirt, too! Very small child size please, like 24 months. My granddaughter would love it…to go with her book!
Aw, so sweet! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post, for a link to Zazzle (or a download link, if you prefer) 🙂
This is the greatest children’s book on the market today.
Wow, that’s high praise indeed! Thank you!! 🙂
