Let me start by saying that I just love Loren Weaver. She is one of those few that have not only read everything I’ve ever written, but hasΒ also reviewed it on both Amazon and Goodreads. That alone makes her one of my very best friends. π
However, getting to know her through our chats on social media and the RRBC, I also came to appreciate her good humour and happy nature. When I found out she worked in the middle of a jungle in Ecuador, I was flabbergasted. Now, I just need to repay her the favourΒ and review her books. While I’m busy working through my tbr list, let’s find out some more about her! Oh, and don’t forget before you leave to enter her Goodreads giveaway for a chance to win a copy of Havoc’s cry!
The Usual
What inspired you to write this book?
Havocβs Cry was what I wanted to read. Itβs paranormal mystery. Itβs a kick-butt heroine with some really cool friends and a few powers of her own. Tori is clever, strong willed, and cracks jokes when sheβs nervous.
Writing what you want to read – always a recipe for some great books. What was the first thing you ever wrote?
I wrote a book about a girl and two dragons when I was eleven. Since I was eleven, itβs very short and pretty bad. But I go back and read it every now and then just to remind myself how far Iβve come as a writer.
A nice way of looking at it. My first pieces are buried somewhere safe, where no one can find them. What other writing have you done? Anything else published?
I have three books published and a blog. Donβt know if that counts π
Sure does!Β Tell us more about your website/blog. What will readers find there?
I share fun things about my stories, including some extra short stories about my favorite characters. I keep a blog that tells a little about my life and what inspires me. I do Paranormal Mondays where I tell about a fun paranormal critter or legend. Thereβs also some book reviews.
Excellent stuff! Any hobbies or interests that you enjoy in your spare time?
Iβm a martial artist. Tae Kwon Do to be exact. So I enjoy working out and trying to keep up with my military sister in the fitness department. Iβm losing, but Iβm having fun.
Wow! That must make your fight scenes particularly realistic. When not busy exchanging blows with sis, what are you working on? Tell us a little about your current project.
Well, Tori book 4 released February 19. Itβs called Tigerβs Peace and is currently in the final stages of editing. Iβm already writing book five, although that one doesnβt have a title yet!
Five books already – nice! What genres do you read mostly and what are you reading now?
I love paranormal and urban fantasy. I branch out and read a lot more than just those, but they tend to be my favorite. Iβm a at-least-a-book-a-week kind of girl, so what Iβm currently reading is always changing. I do post reviews on my blog though.
You should meet my friend, Elle Boca. Say, are you an Indie author? If so, do you have any advice for other indie authors?
I am! My advice? Find other author friends and start chatting. Youβre going to need their encouragement. Plus, no one gets excited about books more than indie authors.
Now, those are wise words indeed. Are there any sites or writing tools that you find useful and wish to recommend?
I know you, Nicholas, have already recommended this, but Iβm a member of the Rave Reviews Book Club and couldnβt be happier with it. Iβve met a lot of awesome people and made friends. Iβve read some really good books. And Iβve been encouraged quite a bit.
That is how we met, isn’t it?Β What are the things in your life that you’re most grateful for?
My family, hands down. My sister is my best friend. My mother is my biggest supporter and encourager. My dad is my inspiration. Weβre very close as a family and I wouldnβt give it up for the world.
That’s sweet! I hope they’re reading this. How would you like to be remembered?
Fun to hang out with. I donβt need a lot.
I don’t know about that second bit, but I can attest to the first one π
The unusual
Now, let’s move to the unusual portion of the feature. Choose a male and a female character from your book and tell us about them. Who inspired their characters? Would you like to meet them? What would you tell them if you did?
I want to meet Trey! Trey is Toriβs best friend, and heβs a werewolf. Heβs cute, funny, and extremely loyal. Trey loves country music and sweet tea. Heβs not afraid to fight for what he loves, but heβs really laid back. Heβs the kind of best friend every girl wants, because heβll tell you that youβre beautiful without being flirty. Heβll deck your enemies. Heβll hold you when you cry. And through all that? He believes the best medicine for a broken heart is really loud music and bad singing. He values family above all else.
If I could meet him, Iβd thank him for being an inspiration. Trey gets mad. Heβs been hurt. But heβs still happy.
Wow, I feel like I know him through your words. If you had to describe a theme or thread running through your life, what would it be? Whatβs your life theme?
Joy in the Journey.
A lot of my life has been getting to the next thing. High school to get to college to get to grad school to get to a real job. But life is about more than getting to the next thing. You have to stop and smell the roses. I had to learn to find joy in the journey. Because itβs not over yet!
That’s really profound. I ask this question every time, but few have answered it, and even fewer in such a wonderful way. Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. Where are you from?
I have lived in seven states, four countries, and moved over a dozen times. But Iβll always call Georgia home, because thatβs where I left my heart.
I’m trying to decide if you’re an Otis Redding fan. Is it true youβve been abducted by aliens?
No, but they visit in my dreams. Iβm pretty sure they implant sleepy-thoughts into my head in that quiet time between sleeping and waking.
Yes we do. I mean, nonsense, my dear. Name your claim to fame.
Iβm something of an adrenaline junkieβ¦ so strange sports are kind of my trademark. Martial Arts. SCUBA diving. Motorcycles. Wakeboarding. That kind of thing.
You really are an unusual author. Which one do you prefer: Elephants or tigers?
Tigers! But that may be partially biased since the main character in the next Tori book is a weretiger. Complete with cat eyes and orange-and-black-striped hair. His name is Lucian.
I wonder how he gets along with Trey. Guess I have to read the books to find out. Where in the universe would you live if you could travel anywhere?
Underwater, if I could grow gills of course. How cool would it be to wake up every morning to a school of blue tang (the Dory fish) or pet a moray eel (kind of squishy, actually) and explore a ship wreck?
Pretty cool, actually! Thank you so much for being here, Loren – it’s been a blast π
Havoc’s Cry
The only living Sorceress, Victoria Novak, finally earned a peaceful, normal life. But with one howl on a full moon, her whole life crashes back into paranormal chaos. The FBI show up to recruit her to the Federal Paranormal Division, the very first all paranormal police force and she canβt decline.
Tori must train a new team of special agents in paranormal etiquette in the middle of solving a crime thatβs leaving ravaged bodies twisted into grotesque shapes. Caught in the middle of a werewolf fight for dominance, Tori canβt let personal emotion interfere with solving a crime. Until the crime becomes personal.
With her life spinning into chaos, the real question is how far is she willing to go to answer Havoc’s Cry.
Tiger’s Peace
Leroy has finally caught up with Victoria Novak, the only living Sorceress, after years of running and hiding. But this time, he has no intent to let her go. Heβs kidnapped the Sorceress with no ransom. Tori hopes her friends at the FPD are searching for her, but thereβs little hope theyβll ever find her.
When she’s thrown into a cage with a young weretiger with no control, things could get very messy very fast. Tortured by silver bars on a silver cage, this tigerβs never seen the light of day. But itβs not just cruelty that made Tori and the tiger cell mates, Leroy is tormenting her with something.
Tori learns some horrifying facts about her new tiger friend, and must now escape with him to bring her Tiger’s Peace.
Who is Loren Weaver?
Loren Weaver is a proud engineer as her day job. She loves crazy sports, her family, and black raspberry chocolate chip ice cream.
As a paranormal fantasy junkie, she goes through at least a book a week.
Although engineering pays the rent, she writes because she loves to hear and to tell a good story.
