I had a lovely surprise last Tuesday, while checking my Twitter feed: I had been selected for a #Pushtuesday slot by the Rave Reviews Book Club. Each Tuesday, an author is selected, and members are asked to promote one of their books with the hashtag #Pushtuesday.
Now, I am on the Club’s Board (I’m the club’s social media director) and have already won a Spotlight spot in the past, with great results. I had never won a #Pushtuesday one, though. I had been religiously tweeting about #Pushtuesday winners, bought their books and reviewed them, but always wondered if that made a difference to them, or I was simply generating more Twitter-noise.
I’m pleased to report that it does make a difference. And what a difference! Before I knew what was happening, I was inundated by hundreds of Tweets about me and Runaway Smile. In fact, I counted that on the first day alone, close to a hundred different people had tweeted about me – many of them, repeatedly! I made a couple of dozens new connections on Twitter. And a surprising number of people bought the book, raising its Kindle rank from 250,000 to around 40,000. The rank for the paperback version shot up from two million to 200,000! Even better, the number of reviews jumped from eight to eleven (and now, thirteen). I know that Runaway Smile is a particularly quick read, with only 60 pages to read, but still, that’s a lot of reviews for a single day!
If you’re wondering how I could be unaware of the spot, the answer is simple: #Pushtuesday winners are selected at random among the club’s most supportive members. Or, as Nonnie Jules (our club’s president) put it when I thanked her for the spot, “you got it fair and square just like everyone else. Your name was the one the generator spit out!”
To find out more about #Pushtuesday, Spotlight author and many others perks, please visit the Rave Reviews Book Club. As for me, I’ll continue to promote #Pushtuesday winners, reading their books and reviewing them. After all, what goes around, comes around. 🙂

You are very deserving! And I LOVED Runaway Smile! I recommended it to all of my friends as well! Congrats! 🙂
Thank you so much!!! 🙂
I love how you track results from individual promotions. Very effective!
Thanks! 🙂 I plan to write a post with the results of 3 months’ ads. It’s quite interesting, actually
Fantastic news, Nicholas!! Congratulations!
Congrats, Nich. I’m so pleased that #PushTuesday helped with your sales and reviews.
Thank you so much, Michelle! Couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help 🙂
Congratulations, Nicholas! These are awesome numbers :)) Thanks so much for blogging about this. Very best of luck with your writing 🙂
Congratulations, Nicholas! Runaway Smile is a great book, and I’m off to buy it! Christine
Woo hoo – thank you!!! :))
Bought it! I’ll let you know how it “shows” in paperback! Christine
Thank you!!! 🙂
Congrats again my friend. It seems you are on a tear in the cyberverse. Good on you! 🙂
This is a great post, Nicholas – a great boost for Rave Reviews Book Club! So glad the #PUSHTUESDAY seat helped sales and reviews for Runaway Smile!
Congrats, and definitely well deserved.
Congratulations on this honor, Nicholas. You are truly worthy!
Thank you so much, Beem! 🙂
Outstanding! Congratulations. 🙂
Thanks! It was rather amazing 🙂
Good to know that every support we give works. I always wondered how or whether it does. Congrats for your book. I read the free copy, and liked it. I will now purchase so that I can send a review.
That;s so sweet of you Jin, thank you! You don’t need to buy the book to leave a review, though – much as I would appreciate you doing so 🙂
No need to worry. I clicked to buy, and my total returned zero dollars. Surprised? I was too, but then I remembered that I have a credit with Amazon. By the way, if one doesn’t buy, the review will have a limited time span. That has been my experience with Amazon.
Huh. Interesting. I haven’t been able to decipher Amazon’s policy on the matter. Some times no matter what I do, my review just won’t show for days – if at all – even if I’ve bought the book.
Thank you so much for your support!!! 🙂
Congrats!
Thank you, Sue! 🙂
Congratulations, Nicholas. That’s great. 🙂
Thank you, Suzanne! It was quite the experience 🙂
Congrats!
Thanks! 🙂
You deserve it, Nicholas, for your hard work and dedication. Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s important people know how RRBC works. 🙂
That’s so kind of you! Thank you, Liz – and welcome 🙂

Thanks, Chris! It was a quite surprise 🙂
But well deserved 😀
Wonderful, I am so happy for you!!! Congratulations from the bottom of my heart!!!
That’s so sweet of you, thank you! 🙂
Congratulations
Thanks, Olga! 🙂
The secret is out! That’s why Twitter notified me that Runaway Smile was popular in my network recently 🙂 That’s awesome, Nicholas, well done!!
Lol – when I saw your email I was like, “huh, so it really works!” 😀
Nice job! Push Tuesday is about the only RRBC thing I can do although there’s not even been time for that recently as there need to be enough tweets on my feed about other stuff to balance the promotional pushtuesday one out. I literally read about 10 books a year. So I just tweet about the person as an author to discover. Glad to hear it helps. I’ve always wondered. 🙂
Cheers
MTM
I honestly didn’t know if it worked or not, but it really does. In fact, I was impressed by it all. So, keep tweeting! 🙂
Will do then.
