I found on Buzzfeed a wonderful list of all American presidents and what they REALLY liked to read. Whereas I could see how some books matched the presidents that read them, I was impressed -and slightly shocked- by some of the books. There actually is an American president who loved to read The Rules of Poker. Bearing in mind that this list presented the books that American presidents read over and over again, it does make you wonder: what were those people thinking?
So, here are the highlights:
Lincoln: His favorite author was Shakespeare
Harding: His favorite book was The rules of poker
Hoover: David Copperfield
Roosevelt: Poems by Rudyard Kipling
Kennedy: From Russia with Love
Reagan: The Hunt for Red October
Bush senior: War and Peace
Bush junior: The Bible
