I hope you’ll excuse me for disappearing for the past few days. My holidays have started, and until the 25th I will not be spending all my waking hours in front of two monitors. Instead, I’ll go to the beach, visit friends, throw BBQs and enjoy life outside the office.

I will also run a book promo between the 20th and 27th, during which you’ll be able to buy most of my books, the Pearseus bundle included, for a mere 99c (down from $3.49). But more on that later.

For now, I wanted to share my trip downtown. As some of you may already know, I live outside of Athens, at the foot of Penteli, some 450 meters (~450 yards) up on the mountain. And some 25 kms (~16 miles) from the centre of Athens. Despite the relatively short distance, I go downtown maybe half a dozen times a year, mainly because I’m so used to the peace and quiet of my area that I end up with a headache whenever I venture to the hustle and bustle of he city.

August is a particularly good time for visiting Athens, however, as the city is empty. Even the heat doesn’t bother me too much, and Electra and I decided to visit the Acropolis Museum the day before yesterday. You see, each August, on the night of the full moon, the museums are open until midnight, and orchestras play, to allow people to enjoy the beauty of the moon.

So, we went to the museum before heading off to a friend’s hotel, where we watched the moon rise, sipping cocktails. But, as they say, a picture speaks louder than a thousand words. Enjoy!
